Madison and Fifth

With all my travelling I have been looking for a really good gig bag to pack my precious guitar into. I came across Madison and Fifth Mono bags which are as good as gig bags come, and was delighted when they asked me to agree an endorsement deal with them.

March was the launch of the new album, and boy what a launch it was! The theatre was sold out, they were even trying to squeeze people in behind the sound man and in the lighting man's area! It was a blast, the atmostphere was amazing and I know I had fun, I think everyone else did too!

Dust and Bones has had a load of even more fantastic reviews this month so if you don't have your copy yet take a listen and buy yours here

I took the band to play at the 100 Club in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust in a women of the blues night. It was brilliant and Joe McElderry (of X Factor Fame) came and sang a few songs too. The night raised £1000 for the TCT which is fantastic. Anyone with suggestions for next year's charity gig should drop me a line, I do one per year in aid of something that would really make a huge difference.

I popped over to the BBC Radio in Cambridge and had a lovely chat and played acoustic with Sue Marchant, the show was broadcast live through around 12 southern counties.

Coming up later this year are loads of festivals and a second trip to play over the channel, this time in the Netherlands and Luxembourg on a double headline bill with Laurie Morvan.

What a rock and roll month! The majority of the last month has been spent in the recording studio working on the new album. Its all recorded now and we're tweaking the final mixes before it goes off to be mastered. I'm very excited about it, and honestly think its the best I have ever recorded. The album (called "Dust and Bones") comes out early in 2012 but some radio stations will be getting a sneak preview in the form of a single so listen out for one of the tracks on the airwaves!

I've done some lovely gigs this month too including the Blackburn Blues Festival and a really enjoyable solo gig at The Flowerpot in Derby.

I've also done a couple of lovely interviews. You can hear them both online, the first was a lovely acoustic session and interview with Dave Raven for his show Raven 'n' Blues. You can hear the whole show and watch a video of the songs here. The second interview was with the guys from Wrinkly Rockers who interviewed me at the Colour House Theatre before my gig there a few weeks ago. Its a lovely interview and can be heard here.

Rob Stanley, the wonderful rock photographer, and I spent the most amazing afternoon taking the cover shots for the next album. I won't give too much away but it was a great location, very cool. Now its heads down and into full recording swing with the studio sessions starting at the end of September and a few final rehersals before we go in. Its looking like it'll be out around February time.

This month there are some lovely gigs coming up too, it would be great to see you at one (or all !) of them.

Hi Folks

Its been yet another crazy month with some great gigs including a brilliant gig at Blues At The Farm. On a personal level the musical highlight of the month for me was demoing gear at the JHS Annual Event, mainly because I got to spend the day hanging out with members of The Quireboys, Saxon, Bad Company, Jerry Donahue and Gordon Giltrap! I was also really chuffed to be asked by Cort to be an endorsee of their acoustic guitars.

The boys and I are in full swing finanlising the songs for the new album, then we're in the studio in the autumn. Its sounding amazing already, I can't wait to show everyone! There will be a tour in the spring after the new album comes out, I'll keep you posted on that.

Don't forget, if you would like to vote for Funky Mama's Kitchen Blues in the British Blues Awards (Kevin Thorpe Award for the best new UK blues song) you have until the end of July to get your vote in. You can vote here.

If you like my music, you might like to tell people about it in exchange for goodies like Cds, tickets, t-shirts etc. It only takes a couple of minutes every so often and should be fun!
